In 1998 Global Business Incubation, Inc. (GBI), a private non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, developed a business incubator for entrepreneurs and small businesses in technology, multimedia and entertainment. This model incubator, the Interactive Multitainment Advanced Technology Center (IMATC), created a technology infrastructure that provides a mix of business services and practices to support start-up and small businesses in the commercialization of their products and services to the global marketplace.
Recognizing the need for a comprehensive technology infrastructure, GBI created a model business incubator whose mission and goals were consistent with NASA’s commercial technology policy and desire to work proactively with the private sector.
